Quit smoking app

A different kind of quit smoking app.

Breathe Free With Me is built around real-life moments: daily reflection, personal motivation and progress that is not erased by one harder day.

Quitting smoking isn’t always one clean decision followed by a straight line. There are calm days when it feels manageable. Then there are the stressful afternoons, nights out, familiar routines, certain people and places where an old habit can suddenly feel much harder to change.

Instead of asking you to spend every day thinking about cigarettes, Breathe Free With Me helps you focus on what you want less of, what you want instead, and what you can practise today.

There is no perfect moment required. And one harder day does not erase everything that came before it.

The story behind the app

Most quit attempts focus on stopping. This starts with understanding.

For years, I tried to quit smoking in the ways most people recognise: patches, nicotine gum, vaping and cold turkey. I could often stop for days or sometimes weeks. The problem came when life became stressful or social again. If I smoked, I felt as though I had undone everything and was back at the beginning.

Eventually I tried something different.

Every morning, I wrote one word at the top of a sticky note:

Cancer.

That was the thing I genuinely wanted less of — the risk I was frightened of — rather than another instruction telling me not to smoke. Underneath, I reflected on yesterday, kept track of the days I hadn’t smoked, added small practices and finished with: I commit to today.

That daily practice eventually became Breathe Free With Me. You canread the full founder story.

Your reason

Start with what matters to you.

Your reason does not have to sound inspirational. It might be your health. Dependence. Money. Your family. The amount of your day nicotine occupies. Or something completely personal to you.

In Breathe Free With Me, that becomes the starting point for your Daily Plan. You choose what you want less of, then choose a Daily Focus representing what you want more of.

The idea is simple: keep the direction visible, rather than repeatedly reminding yourself what you are not supposed to do.

Daily practice

Build more of what you want.

Your Daily Focus can be supported by a few small Daily Practices. These are positive behaviours you choose to repeat.

You can also use affirmations as prompts to pause, reflect and reconnect with the direction you have chosen. Keep the ones that feel meaningful. Hide the ones that don’t.

Breathe Free With Me isn’t asking you to spend the whole day fighting smoking. It is helping you practise the choices, routines and ways of thinking you want more of.

Context, not blame

Notice your HotSpots.

Smoking often becomes connected with context: a coffee, finishing a meal, stress, alcohol, other smokers, a journey or a familiar part of the working day. NHS quit-smoking guidance also recommends recognising these kinds of triggers so you can prepare for them.

Breathe Free With Me calls these HotSpots. They can be:

  • People who are connected with the habit.
  • Places where smoking has become familiar.
  • Moments — routines, situations or times of day carrying an association.

A HotSpot isn’t something you necessarily have to remove from your life. Naming it simply gives your daily reflection some context. Over time, patterns that once felt automatic can become easier to see.

No reset

Reflect. Don’t reset.

At your daily check-in, look back at yesterday honestly. If it went well, recognise it. If it was difficult, notice what happened.

Breathe Free With Me doesn’t ask you to mark the whole day as a success or failure. Your previous days still happened. Your progress remains visible. And you choose again today.

The NHS similarly distinguishes a brief lapse from returning to regular smoking and recommends learning from the circumstances rather than treating a setback as final.

Difficult moments

Support when a difficult moment arrives.

The app also includes guided breathing exercises for general wellbeing and peer-to-peer Smoke Signals when you want encouragement from someone else.

These aren’t medical treatment for nicotine dependence. They are simply somewhere to turn when a difficult moment becomes real.

Alongside other support

Use Breathe Free With Me alongside the support that’s right for you.

Breathe Free With Me is a lifestyle and wellness app. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice or treatment.

You do not have to choose between the app and evidence-based stop-smoking support. Nicotine replacement therapies, nicotine-free medicines, vaping as an alternative to smoking and professional Stop Smoking Services can all form part of a quit attempt. NHS guidance recommends planning and appropriate support rather than relying on willpower alone.

Breathe Free With Me can sit alongside those approaches, helping with the daily reflection, awareness and behaviour-change part of your journey.

Begin today

Start today. No perfect moment required.

You don’t need a perfect Monday. You don’t need a New Year’s resolution. You don’t need to promise that yesterday’s cigarette was definitely the last one you will ever smoke.

Open the app. Reflect for a minute. Choose what you want more of. Commit to today.
